Where I do a close reading of James Soriano’s essay and posit/show that the latter part of it is sarcastic. And that, therefore, Soriano’s article is neither elitist nor condescending with respect to the Filipino language. That, in fact, James Soriano challenges the status quo, questioning our society’s use of a foreign language in the academe and the workplace.
